The Department of Neonatology at the University Hospital of Burgas received an important donation – the latest generation bilirubin measuring device and monitor to track the vital functions of newborns.
The first device helps to detect jaundice in babies and it is a friendlier, noninvasive tool on account of its touchless function. The equipment was donated by Ulrich Heppe, CEO of airport operator "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" and Dr. Artyun Magardichyan.
"Our Social Committee decided to help the University Hospital of Burgas. So far, our donations have been focused on children and various social care facilities, but for us, it is equally important to consider the needs of the youngest residents of Burgas," claimed the airport operator.
The donation was accepted by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Burgas Hospital Dr. Verginiya Canova, director of RHI Burgas Dr. George Pazderov, Deputy Executive Director of the Hospital Dr. Stelian Slavov, Surgical Activities Coordinator Dr. Boyko Mirazchiyski and Therapeutic Activities Coordinator Dr. Yordanka Koruderlieva. "Thank you for the kind gesture. The equipment will be very important for the Neonatology Division, which cares for the youngest patients," expressed Dr. Canova.
In turn, Ulrich Heppe said that he chose to focus exactly on these devices for several reasons. "I have a five-month old daughter. When we needed to take blood for bilirubin testing, she began to cry. I believe that this process will help ease the experience for babies, so that they feel no pain," he added. The equipment will soon become operational in the ward.
