In front of Terminal 2 is placed a sculpture "Sign of Infinity" by the sculptor Assoc. Prof.
“Infinity Sign” Sculpture
Infinity is eternal and cannot be measured. If it could, it would not be infinity. This gives it mystery.
In ancient Greece, the symbol of infinity was called Lemniskate, which means ribbon.
Infinity is the subject of long debates between mathematicians and philosophers. Plato and Pythagoras believe that everything in this world can be represented as values or a set of integers. They also claim that goodness can be measured, and therefore it is not infinite.
The Israeli mathematician Professor Doron Zeilberger is convinced that numbers cannot increase infinitely, and there is such a huge number that if one is added, zero will be obtained. However, this number and its value lie far beyond the human imagination and will probably never be found and proven.
The idea of the sign and its meaning dates back to Ancient Egypt and the symbol Ouroboros, representing a snake that has bitten its tail. The change of the snake's skin is associated with the rebirth of the soul, and the biting of the tail – with fertility.
To the Egyptians, the sign signifies immortality, continuity, and eternal return. Our life path is full of complex decisions. The symbol of infinity creates a feeling of perfection, simplicity and balance.
The sculpture is a modern representation of the sign of infinity.
It is adapted to the view and aesthetic understandings of modern man and his attitude to the universe.
