Varna Airport and Burgas Airport are becoming ambassadors of the emblematic flower of Bulgaria – the Rose in over 50 of its varieties.  

The Bulgarian Rose Airports Project is an inspiring and ambitious project that Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD has undertook in the spring of 2021 in order to transform its Black Sea airports in Varna and Burgas into exquisite, emblematic places that showcase almost 5,000 Rose plants, representing the wide specie varieties of this flower.

Aside from being a fragrant pleasure for the senses, the rose flower is one of the most well-known symbols of Bulgaria in addition to beauty, youth and health. The Rose plant is royalty, enjoying a special place in the hearts of people throughout the world. Its incomparable aroma, the delicate tenderness and the extraordinary qualities of this gift from nature bring a feeling of luxury, joy and pleasure. The Rose plant emanates energy, increases immunity and acts as an anti-oxidant. This is the feeling that the airports in Varna and Burgas would like to evoke from their airport guests, and the experience they aim to create during their stay at the airports.

The high emotional value and sentiment that roses evoke with the splendor of their color and bloom resemble love. Like the love we have for aviation, it is a notion that must be planted and cared for, requiring great dedication and commitment. It parallels the attention and care we convey to our passengers – from efforts in increasing air connections world-wide to the personalized customer service at our Arrivals and Departures areas.     

This groundbreaking project has earned the vast support of over 24 partner organizations, stakeholders and members of the local communities where the airports operate. Alongside the partners and their valuable contributions, employees of the company have been actively involved in the physical planting and cultivation of the airport terrains.
