The Gate Gardens project represents a unique European concept of an “open terminal”, integrating outdoor green spaces into airport infrastructure. The project was implemented in parallel with a comprehensive internal functional and architectural redevelopment of Terminal 2 at both coastal airports. The concept responds to the new operational requirements for terminal infrastructure resulting from the Republic of Bulgaria’s accession to the Schengen Area.
Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD is pleased to announce that Wizz Air is launching a new direct air route between Varna Airport and Rome Fiumicino Airport. Flights on the route will commence on 22 September 2026 and will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. The agreement enters into force on 1 January 2026 and marks an important milestone in the long-term strategy for commercial development and enhancement of the passenger experience at both airports. Under the agreement, IAAC assumes full operational and investment responsibility for airport advertising, including the modernization and expansion of digital and static advertising formats. The partnership is focused on introducing innovative and high-quality advertising solutions that contribute to improved passenger orientation, enhanced visual aesthetics, and a more effective commercial environment within the terminals, as well as to the sustainable growth of non-aviation revenues.
For the Summer 2026 season, the low-cost carrier Volotea will launch a new direct seasonal service between Lille and Burgas. The first flight is scheduled for 27 May 2026, with one weekly frequency every Wednesday. Tickets are already on sale.
