Wizz Air, the fastest growing airline in Europe and the leading airline in Bulgaria, celebrated today the opening of its base in Bourgas, the third one in Bulgaria. The base will be seasonal one as the airline will base 1 Airbus A320 aircraft at Bourgas airport between June and September 2021. With the establishment of this new base, Wizz Air now offers a total of 16 exciting routes from the seaside city, as 10 of them are completely new ones to start in June 2021
During an official Award Ceremony at Albena Resort, the National Association of Transport Unions of Bulgaria awarded Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD as “Innovative Employer”. The award was specially founded this year – for the first time ever by the Association, as a sign of appreciation of the airport operator’s initiatives to improve the working conditions and the overall environment of both airports.

In effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and to facilitate safe travel, Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD and Independent Medico Diagnostic Laboratory RAMUS have partnered to offer coronavirus testing at Varna Airport.
The ACI Airport Health Accreditation certificate confirms the efforts made in the direction of applied health measures at the airports, so to ensure a COVID-free environment and safe airport travel.
Currently, Fraport Bulgaria expects traffic levels in 2021 to return up to 50% of those in 2019 and to be fully restored by year 2024.
This summer, the airline will operate 6 days per week – Monday, Tuesday and Thursday with 2 flights per day and on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday it will offer 1 flight daily
The launch of the Cluj Napoca – Burgas route marks a premiere for the local market, this being the first service ever that connects Transylvania with the best of the Bulgarian Riviera.
The airline will base 1 Airbus A320 aircraft at Burgas airport between 10 June and 12 September 2021. Along with the establishment of the new base, Wizz Air announced seven additional new services to seven countries from Burgas starting from June 2021
Fraport Twin Star has started the procedure of applying for the ACI Airport Health Accreditation Programme as part of its long-term recovery planning.
