In the middle of September, the Northern and Southern Black Sea coasts in Bulgaria became a center of attraction for some of the most influential journalists in the field of tourism from Germany and the Scandinavian countries.
On August 2, the most long-awaited moment of the year came for Burgas Airport - the arrival of the 1 000 000th passenger for 2023! Yvonne Becker, who landed at “The Sunniest Airport on the Black Sea", together with her husband and their two children, with a SundAir flight from Germany, was solemnly welcomed by a number of officials: the Mayor of the Municipality of Burgas - Mr. Dimitar Nikolov, the Chief Executive Officer of "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD - Dr. Frank Quante, and the Director of Burgas Airport – Mr. Georgi Chipilski.
On 30.07.2023, Bulgarian Black Sea Alliance - a non-profit organization that is initiated with the leading role of the concessionaire company of Varna Airport and Burgas Airport - "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD, celebrates the second anniversary of its establishment.
On July 26th, Varna Airport solemnly welcomed its passenger № 1 000 001 for the year with many gifts, cake-cutting, and a festive mood! Ms. Milena Giusto, who arrived on an Austrian Airlines flight, was personally welcomed by the Mayor of the Municipality of Varna – Mr. Ivan Portnih, as well as by the entire management of our sea airport, headed by the Airport Director – Mr. Dimitar Kostadinov, and the Chief Coordination Officer of “Fraport Twin Star Airport Management” AD – Mr. Nikolay Sekalov.
On May 16th at Varna Airport, "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD officially opened the completely renewed Taxiway (ECHO) with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and a folklore musical performance with bagpipes in the presence of many official guests and representatives of the media in the country.
On May 5th, Varna Airport, part of "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD, opened the active summer season, welcoming tourists from the first flight from Luxembourg of Luxair for this year with an impressive water arch, many surprises, souvenirs, and vials with Bulgarian lavender oil, of which Bulgaria is the producer №1 in the world.
On April 26, a full-scale training session on the emergency and rescue plan was held at Varna Airport with the participation of about 100 employees and external units.
After the record number of 18 routes in Winter 2022/2023, Varna Airport, part of ”Fraport Twin Star Airport Management” AD, starts the season Summer 2023 with expectations for further traffic growth compared to the last year and a rich variety of attractive destinations.
Burgas Airport, part of ”Fraport Twin Star Airport Management” AD, opened Season 2023, welcoming tourists of the first regular flight from Poland for this year with an attractive water arch and many surprises. The touristic season this year was started with a flight as early as the 26th of March, with a regular flight on the Warsaw - Burgas route of Ryanair. This year, in addition to the traditional water arch for this occasion, all the passengers were surprised with hand-made cookies, souvenirs, and the traditional for our country vial with Bulgarian rose oil.
The Ministry of Tourism, together with the Bulgarian Black Sea Alliance and AVIAREPS, organized a promotional tour in five cities in Germany. More than 150 representatives from the German tourism sector will be met to boost the business relation. The second Bulgarian marketing tour organized by the Ministry of Tourism and the Bulgarian Black Sea Alliance in cooperation with the international marketing agency AVIAREPS has started. It takes place from February 6-10 in Germany.
“Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD continues to make every possible effort for the development of the traffic and infrastructure of Burgas Airport, fulfilling earnestly, timely, and entirely all its commitments and obligations to the state, in its role as a responsible concessionaire and good employer of hundreds of employees - permanent and seasonal staff.
Last year, the airports in Varna and Burgas welcomed 3.1 million passengers and served more than 23.7 thousand flights of 72 Bulgarian and foreign airlines operating charter and scheduled flights to more than 121 destinations in Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa. There is a trend of the gradual recovery of passenger traffic, despite the unpredictable situation, caused by the war conflict in Ukraine, as “Fraport Twin Star Airport Management” AD ended the year with 59% growth of the passengers served, in comparison with 2021!
