Varna Airport starts season Summer 2023 with a big variety of destinations

After the record number of 18 routes in Winter 2022/2023, Varna Airport, part of ”Fraport Twin Star Airport Management” AD, starts the season Summer 2023 with expectations for further traffic growth compared to the last year and a rich variety of attractive destinations.

All 16 routes that Wizz Air operated in the winter will continue to be served in the summer season as well! 8 of them are German: Baden Baden, Berlin, Cologne, Dortmund, Frankfurt Hahn, Hamburg, Memmingen, Nuremberg, and the others are: Vienna (Austria), London Luton and Liverpool (UK), Prague (Czech Republic), Larnaca (Cyprus), Charleroi (Belgium), Eindhoven (Netherlands) and Tel Aviv (Israel).

From May 1, the national air carrier Bulgaria Air is increasing the frequency of its flights from Sofia to Varna, and on weekdays it will operate 3 flights a day, and on Saturdays and Sundays, it will operate 2 flights a day.  

Ryanair will continue to operate flights from Vienna to Varna during the summer season without interruption, and on March 26, the low-cost airline restarts its flights from Sofia to Varna twice a week. In addition, this season the airline is adding 3 new routes to Varna - Vilnius (Lithuania) and Katowice (Poland), starting at the beginning of June, as well as Krakow (Poland) from the beginning of July, and for the first time this season, there will be regular flights on this route!

From March 27, Turkish Airlines is increasing the frequencies on the Istanbul-Varna route, from 5 flights per week to 9 flights per week.

From the same date, Austrian Airlines will operate flights connecting Varna with Vienna 6 times a week, and from April 10, the flights will be operated daily.

The low-cost airline easyJet also restarts its flights from Berlin to Varna on March 30, and during the summer season, it will also operate regular flights from London Gatwick to Varna.

Another low-cost airline, Volotea, is adding another French route to the one it opened last year from the city of Lille, this time it will also operate flights from the city of Nantes.

Eurowings Discover will once again operate flights on the route Frankfurt - Varna from the end of April, which will give passengers at Varna Airport another opportunity to make connections with other destinations to Lufthansa group operates flights.  

On June 5, Air Serbia launches direct flights from Belgrade to Varna, 4 times a week, and in this way will enable connections with many other destinations to which the airline operates regular flights in Europe, America, and Russia. The Serbian national carrier last operated these flights in 2016.

And this year, Varna Airport will have new routes and airlines - for the first time Azur Air Ukraine will fly to Varna from 2 Polish cities - Warsaw and Katowice. Another new airline - Arkia will operate flights from Tel Aviv.

In 2023 also flights are operated to and from the new Radom Airport in Warsaw, in addition to the Polish capital's main airport. For the first time this summer, we will have a combined route of charter flights from Karlovy Vary and Pardubice, Czech Republic.

In this summer season, we also restart several routes from the Scandinavian countries - Bergen (Norway), Helsinki (Finland), and Aalborg (Denmark).

The first charters from Germany start in the first half of May.
