Varna Airport welcomed the first flight with organized tourists from Luxembourg for Summer 2023

On May 5th, Varna Airport, part of "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD, opened the active summer season, welcoming tourists from the first flight from Luxembourg of Luxair for this year with an impressive water arch, many surprises, souvenirs, and vials with Bulgarian lavender oil, of which Bulgaria is the producer №1 in the world.

For 21 years, the airline Luxair has operated flights to Varna Airport, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Their summer flight program will run until the end of September.

From the middle of this month, the first charter flights from Germany will begin, and a week after that, the first charters from Poland also will be started.

This season we will have a restart of the flights from Helsinki, which start at the beginning of June, after a three-year pause.
And this year, Varna Airport will welcome two new airlines, Arkia Israeli Airlines and Braathens International Airways, which will operate charter flights to Varna from Tel Aviv and from Copenhagen, respectively.

Serious interest is also expected from Czech tourists to the Northern Black Sea coast, with direct flights from Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic to Varna for the first time.
For the travelers, this summer will offer even more opportunities for direct flights to new interesting destinations:

  • Since the beginning of May, the national air carrier Bulgaria Air has increased the frequency of its flights from Sofia to Varna, 3 times a day on the weekdays and 2 times a day on Saturdays and Sundays;
  • On June 5th, Air Serbia launches a new route with regular flights from the Serbian capital Belgrade to Varna;
  • From June 6th, regular flights will also be operated to the new Radom Airport in Warsaw, operated by the Polish national carrier LOT Polish Airlines;
  • In addition, this year Ryanair will also offer direct flights to Krakow, starting from the beginning of July.

We expect traffic growth in 2023 compared to 2022, but the levels of 2019 are not expected to be reached this year either.

Varna Airport is very much looking forward to serving all the passengers and guests with the renowned high level of quality in services and ensuring smooth traveling for the passengers!
