At a special meeting today in the Burgas Municipality Building with the representatives of all 13 municipalities in the Burgas Region, the concessionaire of Burgas Airport - "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD, officially confirmed its financial and expert support for the foundation of a non-profit association "Fund for the development of Burgas Airport", on the initiative of the mayor of the Municipality of Pomorie - Mr. Ivan Alexiev, with the chairman of the future association - the mayor of the Municipality of Burgas - Mr. Dimitar Nikolov.

The management board of "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD took part in the working meeting, which was attended by mayors and chairmen of municipal councils from the municipalities: Burgas, Pomorie, Aytos, Kameno, Karnobat, Malko Tarnovo, Nessebar, Primorsko, Ruen, Sozopol, Sredets, Sungurlare and Tsarevo, at which the concessionaire of Burgas Airport actively welcomed the constructive dialogue, announced its financial contribution of 200 000 BGN and supported the idea of creating such a fund to stimulate year-round flights from and to Burgas Airport. It is planned that all negotiations for such flights with the airlines will be conducted by the municipalities, and "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD will support the process. The decision to establish the association will be made by the municipal councils of the 13 municipalities by the end of March, and a founding meeting is planned for the beginning of April.
