SunExpress restarts its flights to Burgas and Varna airports

The new three-year agreement between SunExpress and Electra Airways is an important step towards increasing tourists from the German market

“Fraport Twin Star Airport Management” AD welcomes the start of a cooperation between SunExpress and Electra Airways in the Bulgarian market. At the International Tourism Fair in Berlin a three-year sales partnership with a focus on the summer months of 2025, 2026, and 2027 was announced!   The routes between the Bulgarian Black Sea coast and Germany go on sale from June 2024 on the website: www.sunexpress.com/de, with the first flight planned for the end of May 2025.

During the first summer season, one Airbus A320 will be based both at Burgas and Varna airports and fly to different destinations in Germany. An increase in capacity and the addition of other routes will follow in the future depending on the development of demand. This is a very important step for the recovery and growth of the German market for Burgas Airport and Varna Airport. With the sales concept and the marketing and distribution know-how of SunExpress and the reliability of Electra Airways, „Fraport Twin Star Airport Management“ AD is confident that it has a strong partner in the German market that will support its further recovery.

This is not the only positive news from the "direction Germany"! This year, TUI Germany returns to Burgas Airport and Varna Airport after a more than 10-year pause with direct flights from Hanover.

In addition, new routes from/to Burgas Airport will be operated for the first time this year from Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Pristina (Kosovo), and Porto (Portugal), which will contribute to attracting new tourists from undiscovered markets, after the serious decline, caused by the withdrawal of tourists from the Russian Federation and Belarus, which made up a significant percentage of the tourist flow in the years before the war in Ukraine.

"I am very happy our hard work on the recovery of touristic traffic at Burgas and Varna airport continues to be successful! I am convinced the re-entry of SunExpress into the Bulgarian market will be a success story. And it should be noted that this is also a big step for Electra Airways as a Bulgarian airline! It is also important to enter new markets, so Uzbekistan, Kosovo, and Portugal are important steps for Burgas Airport and we will try to grow these connections further", said the CEO of "Fraport Twin Star Airport Management" AD - Dr. Frank Quante.

Traditionally, at the end of March, the full finalized summer schedule of Burgas Airport will be distributed to the media and the public, which will further diversify the airport's portfolio and travel options for all its passengers and guests.
