Varna Airport, operated by Fraport Twin Star Airport Management AD, officially welcomed its one millionth passenger for the year on the morning of August 5 – marking a symbolic moment for the airport.

The milestone passenger, Gerhard Peshke, arrived with his family on board Discover Airlines flight from Frankfurt, which landed at 08:30 h. Gerhard Peshke was warmly welcomed at the airport and received a special branded suitcase – a symbolic gift for many more holidays along Bulgaria’s beautiful Black Sea coast. All passengers on the flight received traditional Bulgarian lavender oil souvenirs and custom-made branded cookies. The celebration featured a festive water salute, colorful balloons, and a cheerful atmosphere.

Discover Airlines is the Lufthansa Group's quality leisure airline in Germany, which has been operating flights to Varna since May 2022. In just over three years, the airline has carried nearly 90 000 passengers between Varna and its hubs in Frankfurt and Munich, operating more than 600 flights to date. In 2024, Discover expanded its offering to include direct summer flights from Munich to Varna. For summer 2025, the Frankfurt route will operate with increased frequency (four times per week) and, for the first time, will continue into the winter season with two weekly flights – providing year-round access to the entire Lufthansa Group network and seamless connections to destinations worldwide.

Discover Airlines recently celebrated its own milestone, welcoming its 10 millionth passenger last month and marking four years since its founding. Operating a fleet of 30 aircraft, the airline now connects around 60 destinations in over 20 countries, focusing on leisure travel in Europe, North America, and Africa.

The one millionth passenger celebration at Varna Airport highlighted not only the success of its airline partners but also the dedication of the airport team and its commitment to delivering a memorable experience for every traveler.
